Simulation Face-To-Face Intensive Capstone

This course provides the opportunity to apply previously learned content presented in prior modules. Participants will design, implement, and reflect on a simulation-based learning experience (SLE) to include pre-briefing, scenario design and implementation, debriefing and assessment. Participants will work in teams to design and implement a SLE. The course will include two synchronous online planning sessions and faculty will assist the assigned teams in developing their scenario using a template. The teams will come together for a day-long intensive in a simulation lab and will implement their own scenarios and participate as learners in the SLEs provided by the other teams. Nursing Education Connections faculty will coach, provide critique, and facilitate peer feedback throughout the day-long intensive.

Learning Outcomes:

  1. Collaborate with team members to develop a scenario and plan pre-briefing and debriefing activities.
  2. Collaborate with team members to facilitate a scenario and debriefing.
  3. Use an instrument to assess the debriefing performance of self and/or peers.
  4. Participate as a learner in SLE’s provided by peer teams.
  5. Provide peer feedback informed by INACSL best practices.

Prerequisites:
*Foundations of Scenario Design and Curriculum Integration
and
Introduction to Pre-brief and Debrief OR Debriefing for Clinical Judgement
and
completion of two synchronous online planning sessions (7/14/2021: 5-6:30 p.m. and 7/21/2021 5-6:30 p.m.)
