Jana Bitton, MPA

Executive director

Jana is one of the few non-nurses in the United States who speaks fluent nurse. In 2009, she joined the world of nursing workforce when she accepted a position at the Oregon Center for Nursing as a Program Manager, which led her to be a Program Director, then the Development Director, and finally, the Executive Director. She is the Past President of the National Forum of State Nursing Workforce Centers, a nonprofit dedicated to providing support to nursing workforce centers nationwide. Jana holds a journalism degree, which allows her to tell amazing stories, and a master of public administration, which allows her to bring order to chaos. She has a background in marketing, nonprofit management, and local government.

Rick Allgeyer, PhD

Research director

Rick Allgeyer is the Research Director at the Oregon Center for Nursing (OCN) where he coordinates OCN’s research agenda. His work has been used to inform policy decisions and has received state and national attention. Rick keenly understands the maldistribution impact on Oregon’s rural communities and frequently partners with organizations to conduct various research projects concerning the nursing workforce. Prior to joining OCN, Rick served as the Director of Strategic Decision Support at the Texas Health and Human Services Commission. He received his Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of Texas at Arlington. Balancing work with play, Rick spends his recreational time as an avid disc golfer and fly fisher.

Dawne Schoenthal

Program Director

Dawne Schoenthal is a Program Director for the Oregon Center for Nursing (OCN). The passion, support, and leadership she delivers have forged partnerships, bringing resources and guidance to all parts of Oregon. Before joining OCN, Dawne worked for Samaritan Health Services, coordinating the student placement program and providing important clinical experiences to students in critical access hospitals and rural clinics. Dawne is a business administration baccalaureate of Northern Arizona University who moved to Oregon in 2019. When not strategically planning programs, Dawne enjoys time with her family kayaking on the Willamette River, and the occasional indulgence of Toppers salted caramel fudge.

Callie Fowler (Gisler), BA, CNA

Communication & Community Education Manager

With almost a decade of experience in communications and a degree in journalism, Callie manages community engagement and education for the Oregon Center for Nursing (OCN). Before joining the OCN team in 2023, Callie worked with leading consumer brands, including Microsoft and Sony, and nonprofit organizations, such as Oregon Humane Society. She also spent two years working in acute care as a certified nursing assistant (CNA) and is currently completing her BSN at Concordia University with plans to pursue a nursing career in emergency medicine alongside her healthcare workforce advocacy work at ONC. Away from her home office, you can usually find Callie sipping her way through coffee shops or exploring Oregon with her husband and dogs.

Hanna Stanley

Operations Assistant

Hanna Stanley is the Oregon Center for Nursing’s Operations Assistant with four years of nonprofit experience, including public health and work with the IDD community. Putting her degree from the University of Arkansas to the test, Hanna specializes in administrative support and human resources and is responsible for OCN’s human resoruces, payroll, and accounting processes. In her free time, Hanna enjoys crochet, scrapbooking, and spending lots of time with her cat.

Priscilla Pimentel

program Assistant

Priscilla Pimentel serves as the Program Assistant at the Oregon Center for Nursing. In her role, Priscilla is dedicated to supporting various initiatives aimed at enhancing the recruitment and retention of nurse educators across Oregon. She plays a pivotal role in coordinating projects, managing schedules, and ensuring smooth communication between stakeholders to facilitate the implementation of key programs. Outside of her professional endeavors, Priscilla enjoys a well-rounded and active lifestyle. She loves going to the coast, hiking, and spending quality time with her family and friends, husband, and dogs. Her passion for nature and the outdoors complements her dedication to fostering a supportive and thriving community, both in her personal and professional life.
