Founded as a non-profit by nursing leaders in 2002, the Oregon Center for Nursing (OCN) is the state advisor for nursing workforce issues. OCN supports and promotes exceptional nursing professionals, conducts and disseminates research, and builds partnerships with diverse stakeholders to advance nursing.
OCN works across the state to support a wide spectrum of nursing professionals, from new graduates to senior leaders working in diverse healthcare settings. The organization is regarded by nurse leaders, educators, and state legislature as a leader and advisor for nursing workforce issues, including well-being, job satisfaction, and retention.
Our Mission & Objectives
The Oregon Center for Nursing facilitates research and collaboration for Oregon’s nursing workforce to support informed, well-prepared, diverse, and exceptional nursing professionals.We create and support programming centered around our strategic objectives:
- Conduct, analyze, and disseminate research.
- Encourage collaboration and build partnerships with diverse stakeholders to advance nursing.
- Promote nursing and healthcare in all settings in which nurses practice.
Oregon Nursing Advancement Fund
Our research and programming are funded by numerous income sources, including state and federal grants, government funding, and the Oregon Nursing Advancement Fund, which designates a portion of each Oregon nursing license fee to OCN.
